Setting MAC addresses

I have a network printer with a print server built in. I need help configuring it. When the computer reboots, the IP address resets, and then the computer can't find it anymore.

I can't set it for static IP address because i have wireless laptops on the network that need a dynamic IP address.

Can anyone help?

hi . how does one go about hooking up two computers together . one a desk top to be used as a storage unit for my lap top so i can down load my lap to the desk top is this possible to do or what also how do i hook up my tv as a monitor for my lap top thanks patrick

linksys router

i have just purchased a linksys wireless broadband G router WRT54GS, i have called the linksys help support millions of times! well atleast 8 times. i have tried everything they have asked me to do! my laptop computer is a MAc Powerbook G4 and has wireless connection. I have conection to my router from the router to the hallway on my upstairs floor. I am trying to reach to my bedroom that is max 50 feet away from the router. right now i am sitting outside my room and i still get connection. whenever i go into the room i no longer get connection! does anyone have any recoommendations?? should i try buying an antenna that can extend furhter???

Apple airport

i have a pc and one of my roommates has a mac notebook. we have a cable modem that runs through an airport hub then into my pc. her notebook has a wireless modem. i now have a new roommate with a pc on the other side of my flat, so i'd rather not run a wire from one end of the apartment to the other. can i connect her new pc through the airport with a wireless card and have the notebook continue to use it as well?

LinkSys range extender??

Anyone tried this yet? I have and could not get it to work. I was told that all I need is a LinkSys "G" access point and this extender and that I can use any wireless card in my laptop... Well it didn't work with any of my "B" cards and I wonder if buying a "G" card would have fixed it but I was not willing to take a chance after my experience with LinSys' tech support.

Anyone else messing with one?

WAN driver question

Hey Everyone, I'm really in a pickle and new to networking. I'm running a computer lab for an afterschool program and all the computers are run through a proxy server that filters internet content and blocks email. I have to use email on my desktop however, so my desktop has 2 IPs, the first ip is the same as all the kids computers (it connects via the firewall) the second connects directly to the internet (using one network card). The WAN driver shows up and is visible, and is enabled, but there are not packets being sent or received, any ideas? Thanks for the help! - Ron

wireless?

so, we currently have a wireless network in the house. At the moment the AP is located in the interior network, and is not firewalled off. We are running WEP to at least stop the most casual of attackers, but obviously that's not enough. We have an unused NIC in our firewall (NetBSD+ipfilters) that we're eventually planning to put the AP on it, but then we would like to run some VPN over it so we can authenticate onto the interior network. Does anyone have experience setting such a thing up and can offer pointers/ideas/recommendations?

We are planning to set up a public access point as well, but we'd like to keep this one private.
